The Compact by barefacedBass is now shipping! Our first customer has just received his cab and said:

"From the two seconds it was plugged in, my initial reaction was "quiet and distorted", which I think must have been something to do with the mini-head - but I didn't even have any time to change the settings on the amp... ...It looks great and is very light so I'm looking forward to trying it out with all the different heads tonight. It's nice and tall too!"

Fortunately a little later we received this message: "Hah! It was just a dud cable! Cab sounds wicked."

And now to more fully introduce The Compact. The aim with this cab is to give you a very easy to carry speaker that can still play seriously loud - no problem hanging in almost any rock band. Because it is so small it doesn't naturally have massive bottom but it won't mind if you crank up the lows on your amp to get that fatness. Thanks to the very latest speaker design we use a single 15" speaker to produce amazingly punchy midrange and just enough treble for clarity - more than many 4x10" cabs.

The Compact

Dimensions: 25.5" high x 19.5" wide x 13.5" deep

Impedance: 8 ohms

Ready to travel - one-hand carry!

The Compact

Why is this so light?

  • lightweight neodymium magnet speaker
  • thin hardwood ply cabinet

Why is this so loud?

  • high sensitivity speaker to get as much sound from every watt as possible
  • carefully designed cabinet for the best balance of loudness and depth
  • high power handling ability to allow you to continue to get more and more sound output as you apply more and more power

Why does it sound so good?

  • advanced 15" speaker with lightweight cone giving remarkably flat response across the critical sound spectrum
  • very stiff and strong cabinet with cunning bracing to reduce unwanted vibrations and distortions
  • cabinet/speaker design that ensures the speaker operates with much lower distortion than other similarly sized models
  • attention to details such as the damping of internal reflections, reduction of floor reflections, sizing and tuning of the ports to ensure low noise

What else do I need to know?

  • hardwearing textured coating which is tougher than tolex finishes yet can be easily touched up if badly damaged
  • stacking corners to add further protection, act as simple lightweight feet and to allow you to stack a a pair of cabs
  • single strap handle on one side - The Compact is so light and slim that you can easily carry it in one hand
  • powder coated steel grill to protect the speaker from the roughest of knocks.
  • airtight Speakon jack positioned to maximise access and panel integrity

OK, I'm sold, how do I get one?

Contact barefacedBass@gmail.com to join the waiting list. We have just started shipping out first production models and although the build process is getting quicker the list is getting longer! The current price is £375 and we can ship to anywhere in the mainland UK for £25. As these cabs are designed for gigging the best way to know if these cabs are for you is to take them on a gig! We are thus offering a 14 day trial period for you to find out if this is your ultimate bass speaker solution. Return the cab undamaged to receive a full refund of both the £375 purchase price and the £25 outbound postage and packing.

We would love to make these cabs less expensive but the components are not cheap and the ultra-lightweight but very stiff cabinets take a long time to build. Fortunately because we don't go through the retail network these speaker cabinets can be sold at a reasonable price, less than half of what you'd have to pay to get a similar quality speaker through a conventional retailer. Don't compare these speaker cabinets with equally small or light ones - compare them with what they could replace!

There have been a number of international enquiries of late. We currently feel that the cost of shipping outside Europe is prohibitive and would recommend you consider a local builder. We are happy to supply speakers to continental Europe though the 14 day trial would not apply and the shipping cost will be somewhat higher.
