Super Twin - December 2015 (USA)

I can honestly say that I am very pleased with my Barefaced cab.  The low end sound is insane.  Believe me when I say that I plan on posting pictures of the new cab when my rig is fully completed (just waiting on my pedal board).  Also, feel free to list me as a representative.  I would be happy to help other customers who have questions.

Kind regards,

Ben

Big Twin 2 - December 2015 (USA)

I received the Big Twin II on Friday evening.  Took it to rehearsal last night and it sounded GREAT.  And it hasn't even been broken in yet.  I love everything about it from the way it sounds to the way it looks to the weight and ease of transport and the placement of the handles and wheels.  The ease of transport is really appreciated by my sore back!  Thank you very much.  I can't wait to start gigging the cabinet in January.

Big Twin 2 - December 2015 (France)

Hello Alex from Barefaced ;)
I'm the new and happy dad of a Big twin 2. Wow !
What a clarity and definition. The difference between with or without "tweeter" ( i know it's not tweeter ) is subtil however i can easily hear two differents sounds: a clean and defined vintage one and a more modern one without any treble default. Difficulty is: where do i stop turning the button ? ;)
A lot of growl too but not muddy. And a lot of bottom.

Regards.
Bye

Super Twin - December 2015 (UK)

I have done a few gigs with my Super Twin, and these are my thoughts.

When I first played my Super Twin I was impressed, but not to the point where I thought it blew my old faithful 25 year old Trace Elliott 1210 out of the water.  My back certainly did appreciate the reduction in size and weight though.  After a couple of gigs I counted Alex at Barefaced to ask some advice on amp settings and realised I had been trying to make my sound too "nice" by scooping the mids and using the amp pre-sets.  With a few tweaks I suddenly realised what the Super T is capable of.  Since then I just plug in, dial everything to 12o'clock and let the bass cut through the mix.  The wow moment came at a gig when I had my eq turned up to maximum to tune mid way through a set with the amp on mute, and then forgot to turn it back to 12o'clock before we started playing.  The bass was loud, but really good loud, in fact so good, it was a wrench to turn it back down to a normal level again.  The next wow moment came about 6 months of ownership, when I had to borrow a rig for a gig.  This rig was an Ampeg SVT head with an Ampeg 8 X 10" cab, which is the sort of set up I would usually dream about, but I was not that impressed.  I was gobsmacked, hand on heart - in my humble opinion the Barefaced ST sounds better that the Ampeg 8 X 10", and I'm pretty confident in that statement.

Big Baby 2 - November 2015 (UK)

Hi Barefaced Team,

Been meaning to write to you.  I'm loving the Big Baby 2.  Also 100% happy with the customer service.  I'll post up a review as soon as I find a likely spot, but here's my first impressions.
First, my old rig: an 80's Trace Elliot Series 6 with an EV TL 1X15.  New rig: Carvin BX500 with Barefaced Big Baby 2.  Bass is a G&L L2000E.

On first plugging in, my first thought was "where's my sound gone?"  I've been using that bass, amp and speaker for 28 years, so it's pretty ingrained.  My second thought was "what the hell does this tweeter control actually do?".  But after an hour of A/B-ing, a few things became clear.

1. The Trace, of course, has that 80's scooped sound, even without the pre-shape engaged.  I've never liked the scooped sound, but funnily enough I've always been happy with the Trace, because...
2. The EV cab, it shocked me to discover, is ridiculously biased towards the lower mids.  So much so that it completely overcomes the Trace's scoop and results in a very mid-heavy sound.
3. I was getting no real tops at all, to the point where I couldn't even hear the tweeter in the BB2 until I'd adjusted my ears.
4. I've always used the G&L onboard preamp in basically one setting - back pickup, parallel, treble boost on.  In other words, the thinnest most trebly sound you can get out of it.  I've always heard people raving about the G&L's tonal flexibility, and always thought dismissively "well, there are a lot of settings but only one is really useful".

So essentially my sound was made up of the EV overcoming the Trace's mid-range deficits, and the G&L cranking the tops to compensate for the EV's top end deficits.  Well, the end result was a good sound that worked for me for a long time.  So why change?  Two reasons.  You already know number 1 - weight.  The Trace by itself weighs nearly as much as the Bareface cab, and the EV cab requires careful alignment of spine and knees just to get it off the ground.  Number 2 is that I've recently started playing piccolo bass and I wasn't happy with the sound through my old rig.

Enter the BB2.  All of sudden the mid-heavy honk is gone (hence my initial reaction), the tops are actually working, and something I'd never heard from my old rig - that percussive low frequency thump at the attack of each note.  Took me a minute to work out what it was.  And for the first time ever, I can use every switch position on the G&L.  I can actually use the front pickup without giving up all clarity, and the treble boost now stays off most of the time.  Again, I've read that the G&L has a decent P bass sound, but until the BB2 I'd never heard it.

Of course, the BX500 is a bit of a knob twiddler's playground, so I could dial back in that midrange if I wanted to.  But you know what?  I'm so much enjoying hearing the ends of the frequency spectrum that I now run the BX pretty much flat.

Bonus features:
1. One trip from the car to the gig - BB2 in one hand, bag with amp and music in the other, bass on my back.  Seriously, my rig now is about 30kg lighter.
2. Much more clarity in FOH sound.  The EV was super directional in what little tops it had, so my gigging sound was pretty muffled.  In fact a couple of times on small gigs the sound guy listens to my rig and says "you know what, I don't think we're going to need a DI".
3. Sounds great at low volume.  But because the tone is more balanced I actually can dial in a little more volume in rehearsal and it just gains presence rather than soundingloud (to me, loud is a dirty word I reserve for tasteless shirts and hearing-damaged sound engineers).
4. The piccolo bass now sparkles, and I can hear the detail in the effects I use.

Sorry about the wall-o-text.  Feel free to use any of this.
Regards
Jaime

Big Baby 2 - November 2015 (USA)

I love it.  I've been out of town for a while and have only had occasion to play through it on a few occasions but so far I'm very pleased with it. I just play for fun so I don't gig with it. I do occasionally jam with some friends and they love it as well. The sound is awesome --- warm and full. The highs are crisp but not harsh.  Overall it is the best cab I have owned to date. Great job!

Super Compact - October 2015 (UK)

The cabs are simply stunning. I think pretty much any cab can sound fine on its own when it isn't being pushed; the real test is when you're up against a Marshall 4x12 and a drummer who hits 'em hard. With my SCs, it doesn't seem to matter where I am on the fretboard (or even in the room), I'm always right there in the mix. With every other amp/cab combination I've used, even after a fair amount of tinkering before a gig, this just wasn't the case; it often felt like a compromise and I'd end up gigging with the nagging feeling that I wasn't quite happy with my sound. These days, I hardly even need to tinker!
And of course, they're loud! In the kind of venues we play, I could probably get away with one but I feel better with two when I'm next to the Marshall 4x12 (which is ridiculous overkill, btw, but guitarists rarely listen to reason when it comes to the size of their stack, do they?).

And it's just so much less hassle to be able to carry one in each hand, and not have to put the seats down in my car!
But you know all this, so I'll stop!
Anyway, thanks again.

Super Twin - October 2015 (Australia)

Did my first show with the Super Twin this evening. It's PERFECT. Handles my sound brilliantly! No farting or tweaking around between songs, it just pumped away and sounded huge. The venue had a really steep staircase to the bandroom, so loading in/out was a breeze.
Thanks again. Awesome, awesome cab.

Big Baby 2 - October 2015 (UK)

Thank you the cabs arrived early Friday morning which was perfect, as it gave me time to set them up and sound test them etc. And I had a gig at the Maverick pub in Stourbridge, and didn't have to turn my amp up much at all.
I could tell the difference immediately, they sound awesome, so am very happy, and to top it off I had no struggles whatsoever lifting them up my stairs at 1am!
Thanks for making them, I'm very happy with them. My only suggestion would be for another handle perhaps on top??
I'm selling my 4X10 TC electric cab for sure now :-)
Thanks again

Marc

(...)

Just want to say thank you again for making my two big baby speakers. They're awesome, and sounded great at the gig I did last week.
I linked them with a TC electronic 2x12 cab with my TC Electronic BH500 500W amp, and it worked and sounded great.
I'm going to test it at my next gig with the louder band I'm in, and see if I even need the TC 2x12's!
I may even upgrade the bass amp and go for a 750W which will give a bit more headroom, and really help those speakers to perform like they can.
SO all in all I'm very impressed with these baby's they are a joy to listen to. My bass has never sounded better.
All the best

Big Twin 2 - October 2015 (UK)

The Big Twin 2 was used at a rock gig on Saturday evening and at an open mike on Sunday (the latter with my electric upright bass (EUB)). On both occasions it excelled. Oodles of “bottom-end” together with clear midrange; no rattles and remarkably light: a “perfect storm” of a cab IMHO. In fact my EUB has never sounded so good and I was so besotted with the fabulous tone that I played it pretty-much all evening – the Dingwall hardly got a look-in; most unusual. All band members on Saturday commented on the quality and clarity of the bass. At the end of the gig the guitarist offered to help me carry the cab out. I said  - “Thanks but no need – you try it”. The expression on his face when he lifted it off the ground with one hand was priceless and his immediate reaction is not printable in polite company but roughly translates as: “Gosh. I say chaps. That’s exceedingly light!” As he carried it to the car he said, and here I am able to quote: “The guy who designed this cab really knows what he’s doing.” I concur. Please inform Alex that he can bin the one-month return to base guarantee. Much appreciated and all that but he’s not getting the cab back. Ever. Cheers

Big Baby 2 + Big Twin 2 - September 2015 (USA)

I want to say that these are absolutely the best sounding cabs I've ever heard. The transparency and clarity are exactly what I want in a cab, and the weight of the cabs just adds to how much I love them.

Cab arrived Friday, I had a quick half hour to play Friday night and it sounded great, took all the pedals I threw at it very well (obviously a pretty important factor for me!) and is bloody loud. I've got the first group rehearsal with it tonight, I'll let you know how I get on!

(...)

Hi Alex, Hope you're well. I have a complaint about my Super Twin. I can't use it at bedroom volume. Ha! I jest of course! This cab is incredible. It does everything my BFMs did but it fits in my boot and I can (almost) hide it from my wife. Absolutely ridiculous cab!! Thanks

Just a quick message to confirm delivery. Packaging was superb as expected. The Big Twin 2 is a thing of beauty that’s for sure.I’ll be putting it through its paces and breaking the speakers in at practice tonight and I’ll get you guys a review through in the near future. Thanks for the very prompt service and keeping me informed every step of the way. Cheers

(...)

I put it through it's paces last night, totally flawed by the thing.
Feel free to use any of this review I've written. I'll be sure to spread the word!

" If you're a bassist who likes it big and loud but don't want to bother lugging round a 8x10 garden shed, the Big Twin 2 is the cab for you!
If you play many styles, are tuned low or use many effects, this is the cab for you!
Straight out  of the box it's a thing of beauty. It also makes no sense, how can something this big be so light? I can lift it with one hand, making me look way stronger than I am, which is an added bonus.
Even though the speakers need breaking in for a couple of hours, with flat EQ on my Ashdown 300w head and Dingwall bass, this thing sounds massive. Make no mistake, you do not want to be stood too close to this beast when you really crank it up. By the end of my first band rehearsal, I had the tone I wanted nailed.
I'm tuned to C, I use a multitude of effects including octave pedal and envelope filter which really kick the low end at times. With other cabs I've used, this results all sorts of rattles and unwanted vibrations.
With the Big Twin 2, it just delivers and set my pants flapping. The only rattle is everything else in the room that now needs bolting down.
The secret weapon with this cab is the crossover. No matter what playing style, effects or EQ you apply, there will be a perfect setting that gives you exactly the sound you are after.
All bassists search for that evasive, perfect tone, but are never really satisfied. In over 20 years of playing, I can honestly say this is the best sound I've had.
While lows are important, the highs and mids are often what really define your tone, and the crossover can go from putting most of the top end through the horn, to a nice blend where your rich, high and mid tones also come through the powerful 12" drivers.
This is really useful when using overdrive/fuzz. With all the top end through the horn, it's got some really aggressive bite to it that works well with the lows through the main drivers, but you can create some really nice round, warm fuzz as you blend some of that top end through the drivers.
The overall 'tweakability' of this cab coupled with the rest of your setup give you endless possibilities. If you can't find the tone you want through the Big Twin 2, give up bass and try pan pipes or something."

Big Baby 2 - September 2015 (UK)

Just finished my first show with the barefaced. And it's amazing! Very clear and very loud!We had sound check and I was told that I was too loud, for a double bass that's a big deal!It was only a small venue but in the end I didn't need going through the PA as I was loud enough by myself! Which is another first for me!

Hey Alex, I did receive the cab today as promised by 12:00 noon my time. I plugged it up in my home, and it sounds great, I can hear everything so clear and crisp, I also ran it with my DNA 15, and the combination was thundering, I may consider down the road to add another cab, I most likely will be getting rid of my DNA, because this cab so far gives me everything I need, and it's so compact, I can't wait to try it out next weekend at Church when we play, I'll get a chance to really see what this cab can do by itself, I'll let you know how it turns out, thanks.

Big Twin 2 - September 2015 (USA)

I just wanted to let you know how pleased I am with the cabinet and with the service I’ve received every step of the way. I’m not much of a social media person, but one story I wanted to share was that the first time I used the cab, it was in an outdoor covered picnic area. I’d played there 3 or 4 times previously with other gear and never been happy with the sound - they either mic or DI every instrument and feed it through some bose speakers - with monitors back to the stage, and the bass gets lost in the mix. Anyway, this time I could hear myself clearly, although I was bothered by a distortion I’d never heard before and I couldn’t locate the source of it. The sound guy saw me looking around, checking cables, etc.. then told me my rig was vibrating the tin roof overhead! I had to put up with the noise of the roof but I think that was localized to where I was standing, because after our set a stranger introduced himself as an audio engineer and was complimenting the tone of the bass and asking about my rig. Now I just need to work on getting more gigs to use it at!!
A very satisfied customer in New Jersey

Super Twin - September 2015 (UK)

Hi Magical People of the Barefaced team!
So, my Super Twin. I have had it a couple of months now I guess an have gigged it a few times, including at the Worlds End near you guys. I play in a Blues/Rock Band called The Grey Blues Band, nothing fancy but we get the job done. Since buying the cabinet, I have noticed that I am getting a lot more praise from people who come to see us. I am still playing the same material, maybe a little more confidently, but I am sure this is be due to the awesome sound I now have which has to be due to my Super Twin which I drive using a Mark Bass TTFE500 head.I was chasing after something a bit vintage without the weight and size problems of a full on 8x10 rig. The Super Twin has definitely helped me achieve this! I cannot believe how light this cabinet is yet its sound is so full and clear with amazing headroom.
Thank you so much for producing such a fantastic cabinet!

I recently received a Big Baby 2. It arrived in a timely manner and in perfect condition. Claire kept me updated and was great to work with. The cabinet is unbelievable! It is incredibly light but provides punch and a ridiculous amount of low end. The tone from my bass is articulate and warm through its entire range and at any volume. A definite winner! Thank you

The BB2 arrived yesterday.  Wow - fast delivery!  I am very impressed with the cab.  Breaking it in now as it gets better and better with each hour of play. The BB2 is so lightweight and relatively compact, I'm strongly leaning toward buying a second for louder gigs. The size of just one is quite manageable, even for small gigs with minimal spacing on stage. I like the BB2 so much I've already sold my Fearless 110 and Fearless 210 cabs.  I guess that means I've drunk your Kool Aid! :) My best

Big Baby 2 - August 2015 (UK)

I’ve now had the Big Baby 2 cab for a month of gigging and I have to say it’s completely amazing. The sound bass response is exceptional and it’s also given a lot more definition to my sound, it’s like playing with a compressor without the draw backs! So I’m happy to say this has been a very successful trial and I’ll be keeping this one :-)
Best wishes

Big Twin 2 - August 2015 (UK)

I am very pleased with the cab, thank you. I have only had chance to play through the box at three gigs so far, all of which there were no real opportunities for proper sound checks, so I resorted to my default amp EQ settings and made a few attempts at tweaking the sound during the performances.
Despite the lack of set up, I could immediately appreciate how good the cab sounds - particularly with respect to responsiveness. Low frequency - no problem at all! However, I was missing some punchy mids when turned up loud - obviously, I could do with some more time to experiment with the EQ, although Iam concerned that my Trace Elliot amp, rated at 280watts rms, might be struggling? What are your thoughts regarding this?

I really like the low weight and strap carry handles, although I have had one of the chrome covers fall off! - which was actually quite endearing! Anyway, I will get experimenting over the next few weeks and will hopefully master the graphic EQ!! Thanks again, and congratulations on developing & manufacturing these ace products.
Regards

Mark

[Barefaced reponse: If it's sounding great at lower levels but missing some punch when cranked then it's your amp running out of power. See if that problem consistently happens (you might just have been in a bad sounding room). Something like a GK MB800 may then give you the power you need, whilst having a similar tonal vibe to the Trace (at a fraction of the weight).
Sorry about the handle cover falling off - did it pop back on ok? We give them a squeeze before fitting to prevent rattles, must have not been on quite right! Glad you're liking the cab otherwise.]

Super Twin - August 2015 (UK)

Guys, the cab was, as you know, awesome. Sounded great, bold and loud and I had forgotten how good the dispersion is on your cabs. On sound check I walked around the stage and around the room and the sound was just as good everywhere. Black magic! The band and the sound man were very pleased. We put just a tiny bit of bass through the PA just to keep the stage quieter and it sounded really good.

Alex, good job upgrading the range man. The Super Twin does feel like an evolution of my old Super 12 and it does complement my Tone Hammer way better than the S12. I wonder how badass it would sound through an amp with a big transformer.

Guys, thanks so much for always being so cool. Every time I needed you, you were always prompt to reply and really helpful. And thanks soooooo much for lending me the cab.
Thanks so much once again!
Cheers

Super Twin - August 2015 (USA)

I received the Super Twin and all I can say is WOW! I’d given up on modern cabinets a long time ago because I don’t really like most modern bass tones. In the worst case, they can sound like a metal garbage truck filled with glass bottles bouncing down my pothole riddled street. They often have artificial sounding lows, with glassy unmusical highs, and no midrange character. I’ve always been a 2x15 fan, and you guys managed to capture that great sound in box that I can carry with one hand.

But even better, I now have the speed and immediacy of the smaller speakers without the beamy quality of an 8x10, or its corresponding pillowy tonal coloration that was never my thing. And thank you for offering products without tweeters! There are still some of us who prefer the sound of upper mids coming from a larger speaker. I’m back to using my Ashdown Mag 600, which pairs wonderfully with your cabinet. My ’64 P-Bass now has a great British accent. Keep up the good work, and keep us old-school guys in mind with your next gen!
Cheers

Super Compact - August 2015 - UK

Since picking it up from your workshop, I've now gigged the SuperComp a few times, with both the P-bass and the upright, and have to say I'm over the moon with it. Can't believe the quality and clarity of sound, and the amazing depth from a single 12". Teamed with a TC Classic 450 head, the combination works incredibly well for me.

Can't imagine ever needing anything else, unless it's another BF cab, and will be delighted to endorse the brand at every opportunity.
Kind regards

Just a quick note to say that I used the Big Twin II on two Snakecharmer gigs this weekend and was blown away by how good it sounded! Definitely supplied the frequencies and power handling I was missing! Our sound guy who runs a big PA & equipment company in Manchester, was also extremely impressed.

Big Twin 2 - July 2015 (Germany)

First thank you again for all your efforts for the change and so on. Cab is here for a while now and I couldnt be happier. This is really a joy to use in every thinkable way. It is easy to get around and sound just awesome! What it is able to put out with a powerful PA amp is unbelievable!!! And even with my 100watts Tube Amp it has a great great great punch and bottom.

This all with electric bass. Also it is (and I am a professional upright player for 14 years) the hands down best upright bass Cab i ever used and i tried much to much. Never had a Cab that was able to handle the real low down transients of a slamed double bass E without farting out even at "not too loud" levels. I am talking rock bands by the way !!!! Not silent Jazz stuff.

Further on. On its stand it is a wonderful PA speaker for everything !!!! And i have to say i dont like most PA systems nowadays because they always overdo Highs or/and Bottom and nearly aalllllll have awfull mids. Loud mids. Strident mids. Hard mids. Of course it seems louder but it dosent sound good. This one has perfect mids. Natural voice. Absolutely great!!! I will in the future by a second one and use it as PA.
Also i use it (dont laugh) as a electric guitar cab. I found out that it has a wonderful tone for my mostly Clean guitar sounds... it sounds more like a great recorded electric guitar without ear piercing frequencies. Just even and great ....

I never hoped for so much ... i would have been happy with half of its possibilities !!!!
Thank you so much !!!!

Hi Alex/guys

As you may remember, I had some issues with my first BB2, but we sorted those and I then bought a second. A couple of weeks ago they were gigged at a charity festival where the sound guy reckoned my bass sound was "Awesome ... the best I have ever heard". To put that in perspective, this guy had done the sound for Paolo Nutini the night before!!

Big Baby 2 - July 2015 (UK)

I’m getting on really well with the two Big Baby 2, I’ve played a few gigs with the club band in small and medium sized venues, after the first couple of hours at the first gig they opened up nicely and the bass really warmed up. I played a wedding last Saturday with a Big Band playing swing, jazz and rock using a single Baby and it more than coped with the big sound of the brass section, the amp was hardly working. I have another wedding tomorrow with the same band in a slightly bigger venue and expect more of the same.

In terms of sound they are quite a revelation, the bass is full but not boomy and the mid-range detail is amazing. I really wish they had been available years ago when I was killing myself with heavy cabs. The combination of size, weight, sound quality and volume is unbeatable.

Graeme.

Super Twin - July 2015 (UK)

Many thanks for getting the Super Twin to me on Friday, allowing me to use it on 2 gigs over the weekend. I paired it with an Aguilar Tonehammer 500 head and it really gives off a great sound. It's warm, punchy, loud and clear including the low end notes and octave runs. I play in a 7 piece band and the bass was so clear as an individual instrument. Our sound guy was amazed at the weight, the thud and the clarity and makes the whole band sound so much better, money very well spent was his conclusion.
One thing that is slightly nagging me a tiny bit, should I have gone for the Big Twin? I'm not sure I need anything else but what extra would I get out of a Big Twin, if anything at all with a 500 head? Obviously budget was a factor when deciding what to get, but for an extra £200 would this have been more worthwhile in the long run? I think if the Big Twin didn't exist I'd be perfectly happy with the Super Twin and not give any other cab a second thought!
I'd appreciate your thoughts... Many thanks.

Paul

[Barefaced response: Glad its performing well! You wouldn't get any more out of the BT2 - it goes higher and a bit lower too but that's not what you need tonally. Would just give you a bigger box to carry and a slightly lighter wallet! ;-)]

I'm delighted with the cabinet.  Played an outdoor gig and brought along my old 4x10 cabinet just in case.  Didn't use the 4x10.  My only complaint with the Super Compact is that its clarity revealed that my playing is sloppier than I'd realized. :-)

It's been a good month with my barefaced super compact.. I'm running it with a orange bass terror and a good amount of grindy overdrive from a cog effects knightfall 66 pedal. The cab sounds really focused and clear.. Really pleased with how the cab works with my setup. I would like a bit more volume so i think in the future I may get a second SuperCompact but for the size of the cab and the weight it's a great cab!
I have been recommending Barefaced to every bassist I chat to!

Super Midget - July 2015 (UK)

Hi guys, I have gigged the cab loads and it's awesome, getting better and better as time goes on too.  For a small cab, it doesn't half boot out some bass, keeping a great tone even when I jack up the volume.  And I still got plenty of headroom left to play with.  I've had some very positive comments from people who can't believe a cab this small kicks out so much bass goodness.
Best regards and mucho thanks!

Got cab today looks great and cant believe how light it is!!(...)The guitarist kept saying “is your bass too loud” to which I replied “no your amp cant keep up” ha ha!! Payback's a bitch.. Usually I say to him he’s too loud or quiet and get the “you worry about playing the bass” now he’s working about both for me.

I love love love the cabinet. It's easily the best gear investment I've made, and has completely changed my gigging existence in the city. Beyond sounding completely fabulous, I can't believe how portable it is. I live in a 4th floor walkup, and I no longer dread taking my own rig to a show or hauling it through the subway. It is truly as advertised, and I'm happy to be an evangelist for the brand where I can.
Best regards

Jim

Super Compact - June 2015 (UK)

Just to let you know I have done loads of gigs with my Super Compact and whoever it was said that it will be the last bass cab you will ever own was spot on.
Moreover, I get a couple of gigs each year on guitar. I did one last night and out of interest I weighed my 16in wide 15 watt Fender guitar combo on the bathroom scales. Its about 3lb heavier than the S Compact cab. Impressive!

Super Compact - June 2015 (UK)

The Super Compact arrived and my first impressions are out of this world! It's almost comical how light it is. Sounds great with my limited time playing in my apartment. Had to keep the volume pretty low so I don't get evicted. I'll put it through it's paces this weekend with gigs on Friday and Saturday night. Thank you so much for the fast shipping, outstanding product, and your courteous communication. Cheers!

The cab is excellent, although not sure I will be able to keep it.  My house felt like it was moving when I played it at the weekend, and my neighbour mentioned that he reckons he could feel a minor earth tremor. If there is any structural damage I might have to call bassdamagelawyers4U.

I'm really fascinated by its sound compared to its size and weight. It could cover my low freq very significant than my previous cabs.Well, like they say, cost equals quality.Totally enjoying this new baby, too bad can't buy them all, lol.Thank you for this new unbelievable experience.

Super Midget - May 2015 (UK)

Showing my age now, but I'm as baffled - pardon the pun - how the heck you get such a big, clear, warm sound from such a small box, as Catweazle was by 'electrickery' and the 'telling bone'??!!
Congratulations on a fantastic product and wishing you continued success.
All the best, Tim

Big Baby 2 - May 2015 (Netherlands)

Been using my BB2 for about seven months now. Recently bought a Streamliner 900. This combination punches through the mix like nothing that I've used before. My jazz basses sound tight and full with great top end bight. My precisions sound fat, juicy and vibrant. Even when playinng loud my basses feel alive. Slides, vibrato's and bends come through with finesse. I feel more confident because I hear what I'm doing all the time instead of part of the time!

Super Compact - April 2015 (UK)

My Generation 3 Super Compact is amazing (I mean amazing in the original sense I am 69). It is the best bass cab I have ever had. Easy to carry through doors easy to get into the boot of a small car easy to carry from car to gig and after the gig easy to carry back to the car and then out of the boot again late at night. The power handling and frequency response and attack and punch everything I have ever wanted from a bass cab. Its all there.

Thank you for such efficient service, Alex. Have to say, compared to the Gen 1 Compact and Midget, this looks a little tighter all round.  Finish is better, handles, feet look more rugged.  Can’t wait to try it out!
Thanks

Paul

[Barefaced response: Glad you like it - we've put a lot of work into making the perceived/cosmetic quality as good as the quality of the engineering/construction, whilst also making the new cabs more robust for hard gigging]

Used it at rehearsal last night, so first time at decent volume.  Tonally I reckon it does exactly what it says on the tin and exactly what I hoped for – it sounds like I was using the Compact and Midget together.  But somehow tighter and more focussed?  I don’t have the vocabulary but I think you must know what I mean.  My woody-toned Precision sounds better than it ever has done, anyway.  In the interim I have changed my amp to a TC Electronic RH750 from a Classic 450 for the extra headroom as I am down to the one cab.  I pushed the volume a bit at one point and everyone in the room was amazed that such a little thing can be so loud!  So – top marks from me – a superb 5 star product.  My ears and my lower back salute you. Cheers

Super Twin - March 2015 (Canada)

I just got the Super Twin this past Friday and luckily was able to experience that same night, and I just wanted to mention how impressed I was with it. The size and weight of it is so deceiving, and our drummer looked at it wondering if it was worthy of rock. His opinion changed rather quickly when I dug into it for our power set, both our singer and drummer were absolutely blown away. I can't imagine using any other cabinet for the rest of my playing days (aka death bed) and I am selling my previously loved cabinet ASAP. Congratulations to Barefaced and Alex for creating a product worthy of bass domination.

Big Baby 2 - February 2015 (UK)

Well the BB2 has done its 1st  gig with me & I am very happy to say it is damned awesome, I couldn’t be happier with it.
After my band moaning at me we didn’t actually get to do a full rehearsal before the gig (typical), so it was very funny indeed when they first clapped eyes on my cab, comments like “will it cope”  “its a bit small”  “its very light is it strong enough” (i’m sure you’ve heard them all countless times) these however were soon quietened as i plugged in & “gave it some” while they were setting up, suddenly their faces said it all, our lead guitarist (my older brother) was awe struck by just how big this wee cab sounds, haha it shut the buggers up.
I can’t believe just how much bottom this kicks out, my double bass is a Duke Two Tone & is built to give a very rich bassy old school sound, I have it strung with gut strings so it really packs a punch,i thought my old GB NX2-212 sounded big but it was a piddling nothing compared to the BB2, wow it sounded like I was going through a massive pro’ p.a.And the crossover, hell its sublime once I’d maxed it my slap “click” really came through with none of the horrible hissyness that other tweeters produce, my band’s whole sound has gone up several levels & we send you a collective thank you for building the best bass cab in the universe.  Many thanks

Super Twin - February 2015 (Greece)

Hi Alex
I got it in my hands in Tuesday, the next day i dropped it in our tomb-studio and we played with the band for about 3 hours of loud over driven music. At start I made a really great sound out of my amp but when we started after 5 minutes I had the perfect sound at least for the flavour my ears love to taste. And so it went, the next days I plugged a few basses with different sounds and tunings and everything was more than great. In general I'm totally satisfied, for the first time I listen and feel the low frequencies so nice and the mids are great too. All guys playing bass in our studio said the same and they are very excited with the outcome. So next task is to drive it louder in a gig.So yes the super twin is a great cab ! Thanks a lot Alex.

Super Twin - January 2015 (UK)

Very, very impressive!!
I've got the last gig tonight of a five week run. It has performed brilliantly. Wherever you stand it's crystal clear, and I like that. Something that has just dawned on me. Is it designed to only be stood up? Or could I attach some feet and lay it down? The only reason I ask this is because my amp would sit better on it. If not it really doesn't matter.
Cheers

Andy.

[Barefaced responds: Yes, it's designed to be stood up - put it on its side and you'll get wider vertical dispersion and narrower horizontal dispersion, so more floor and ceiling bounce causing reflected sound mud and less clarity around the room due to less direct sound out to the left and right. Having the speakers vertical sends the sound where you want it and not where you don't.]

Thanks for getting it ready so efficiently.  It looks and sounds great. I went for the roqzolid with the pink stripes! Looking forward to unleashing it this Saturday
Thanks again

It went very well. Amazing sound.  Only had the amp on 4 the whole show. Audience seemed to agree too.
Thanks again

Hi Alex, just to let you know I couldn't be more pleased with the BB's. Either with the Mesa BB 750 or my Tecamp Puma 900. Both amps are different animals and both sound brilliant. I haven't used the Tech 21 bass driver since since I started using the cabs. The tone is that good. Regards

Big Baby 2 - January 2015 (UK)

Did my regular big band gig today, in a known venue....the BB2 is very similar to the BB T, I had the same tone settings, master volume was at 11 o'clock rather than 1 o'clock for the BBT. So sensitivity benefit there. Good so far, thanks
