I received today my one 10, excellent quality and sound, thanks! :)

Two10 - December 2015 (UK)

Just a quick thank you. I've got the cab now.  Safe and sound.

Sounds like the 69er in all the upper frequencies.  Much less bottom end but I can EQ that in fine in the venues I intend it for. I will use it properly in January but I can tell I will be happy with it.  On gigs when I could not fit the 69er in I was never happy but I'm sure the 2:10 is going to do it.

Thanks again and keep up the good work.

You have really enhanced my playing experience.
Best regards.

One10 - December 2015 (Germany)

I tried the one10 in different contexts now and know its limits. It basically is the lightest and smallest full sounding twelve inch cab on the planet.
And i need a second one. With Christmas coming up, my car needing new tires and other investments that are not to be delayed i might take a while to place an order, but you guys got me hooked.

Six10 - November 2015 (UK)

Hey guys, my thoughts on the six-ten:

Barefaced Six-Ten Review.

Before I wrote this review I lived with the cab for over six months, as I wanted a realistic view of the equipment. I am aware of the honeymoon period people have with new gear and I didn’t want this to cloud an objective review.

I have been watching Barefaced grow as a company since its infancy and have always been fascinated if not a little sceptical of the company’s claims. After many months saving and flogging off old gear I finally decided to take the plunge and order a cab.  Being a lover of all things SVT is was particularly interested when they refined the ‘69er’ cab and produced the six-ten. It had the promise of delivering true Ampeg 8x10 sounds but at a fraction of the size and weight.

I must say that it truly delivers, I have made direct comparisons side by side with a classic Ampeg 8x10 with multiple heads and it is louder, fuller sounding and has a ton more clarity. This coupled with fact that it is about half the size and less then half the weight is unreal. I was shocked.

The only gripe is that for the price it would be nice to have some options it terms customisation for tolex, piping and grill cloth. Also I must say that I’m not a massive fan of the logo and its slightly ungainly size.  A high end product such as this should be more subtly and tastefully branded.  Until they come up with some new badges a bit of black gaf tape sorts this issue out.

Considering everything I can honestly say it is one of the best things that I have ever bought as it makes life so much easier and better, as playing through a large powerful bass amp is one of life’s real pleasures and the fact that I weighs so little and that I can put in the back of the van (or car) with one arm is unreal and make it a no brainer to own one. Every bass player should have one.

One10 - November 2015 (UK)

I am very happy with the One10, so happy I am considering ordering another for stacking. I use a Markbass LM 3 amp so my question is, do i just link the two One10’s together with a speakon cable to get 500w at 4Ohms. Also will the cabs handle the 500w. I usually use combo’s so please forgive me :0)

I have gigged my One10 and it will be fine on it’s own for 99% of the gigs I do but it wouldn’t hurt to have two.

Cheers

Jason.

Barefaced response: just daisy-chain them and they'll be fine with 500W

One10 - November 2015 (USA)

Both the One10 and Super Midget are the best in their class! I purchased both because there is no eval period in the USA and I had no idea how they sounded and which would be a better fit for me. I wound up selling the One10 and keeping the Super Midget as it best suits my needs.

I was extremely pleased with customer service during the purchase and delivery phases. I have not had the need to contact Barefaced since owning the cab(s) as they arrived in perfect condition and working order and have remained so since.

Warm regards,

John

One 10 - November 2015 (USA)

I just picked up a One10 from a Talkbass member who bought it recently along with a Super Midget to see which he liked best. My jaw is on the floor. I can't believe how good this thing sounds with my P bass and Demeter head. I'll try to put something more articulate together shortly. But I had to rave about this now.
You guys are THE best at what you do.

One 10 - November 2015 (Germany)

My weekend has been busy, but naturally, i squeezed in a little playtime. From what i can tell so far, the cab is simply awesome. I shortened a speakon cable to just the right length and added a strap that keeps my Tonehammer head fixed in place. That way, it fits perfectly into a padded cajun bag.
The looks, the weight, the tiny size - all just plain awesome. I added a pic of how it sits at home. I've had no chance yet to see how well it will sit in the mix. I'm practicing with my loud band tonight, but the acoustic band has a practice later this week. I will get back to you with praise then ;-)
One question remains though: When i set the volume a bit higher, i get distortion from the cab when playing notes below E string 3rd fret. The amp is rated at 300W in 8 ohms and from what i gathered, the 200W rating you guys print on the cab is rather on the safe side of things. So with the master at noon, when i get this slight distoring / farting sound, should i dial back on the bass knob or is the cab ok with that?

Murdoc

[Barefaced reponse: If you're hearing distortion on lower notes then either the amp is running out of power or the cab is running out of output - either way, you'll have to push things far beyond that point before you're likely to cause any damage. Rolling back the bass knob a bit will help both the amp and the cab, whichever is the limiting factor.]

One 10 - October 2015 (USA)

Just fired up the cab for the first time for a few minutes.  Seems to work fine.  Can't believe how much sound this little guy puts out.  Wow!  But you already know that.  Used my Walter Woods blue light (800w into 8 ohms) and a Guild B30 AEB.  As Alex said, I'll have my bluegrass folks mad as hell before I start really pushing this cab.  I have a MAS110 sub that I can't wait to pair it with and see if that'll work as a slammin' modular 210 for rock stuff.  Anyway, so far so good!  Thanks for the prompt shipping and excellent follow-up. Will be sure to chime in on the One10 praise on Talkbass. Thanks again

Can I just start by saying I am so pleased I followed through with the order for 2 of your new one10 cabs. They are incredibly full sounding, loud, clear and so insanely portable. Thank you for your engineering efforts from someone whose playing days were set to be cut short by heavy hear. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

One 10 - October 2015 (Netherlands)

I am very happy with the one10. For electric bass it is fantastic. I have used it on some surprisingly large gigs already, and when you push it, it gets some real attitude. Fantastic! Nobody can believe that all that bass comes from such a small package, including me :-) For the upright I didn't figure it out yet. I am still looking for the right pickup to use with the one10.

Just a note to let you know my One10 turned up today (haha... got 1/2 way round the world quicker than 450km from Auckland to Napier!). No time at work to try it out, but visual inspection = brilliant! Many thanks

Two 10 - October 2015 (Netherlands)

Last week I received the wiring loom. Thank you very much! I highly appreciate.Yesterday evening I mounted it, and the difference with 12 Ohm is huge. The Two10 is about as loud as my Gen2 Compact. I have tried it in combination with my One10 and my GK 800RB, and bi-amped it gives me a lot of possibilities. I'm happy with it!

Two 10 - October 2015 (UK)

I gigged with the 210 cab at the weekend and it was truly stunning -Sounded bigger and better than my 212 or 410 and I was running it at around 4/10 on the master volume. Had no problems at all keeping up with a loud blues rock trio. I'm spreading the word amongst all the Bimm bass players!

Two 10 - October 2015 (UK)

I have recently bought a pre-owned Retro Two 10 and love the sound and weight, so thank you for crafting a superb cabinet!  I had heard so many good reports about them, so I thought I should 'take the plunge'!  It is so much lighter than the EBS Classic line cabinets too - even the 1 x 12.  As you can see, it is the 4 ohm version and hope it will be okay with either the Markbass Classic 300 (all valve) head or the Markbass Little Mark Tube 800 head.  It will not be pushed hard as it will mainly be used in the home when people visit to check out my stock and at the moment, it appears that level 1 is plenty on either!

One 10 - September 2015 (UK)

Thanks for getting the One 10 to me on Friday. It was immediately put to work at a trio rehearsal and then in concert on Sunday afternoon. I used it as an extension cabinet to my Acoustic Image Coda combo with Electric Upright Bass and Bass Guitars. The first thing I noticed was the added warmth the One 10 brought to this setup. I've often used a Demeter tube bass preamp to warm up the Acoustic Image when using it with bass guitars but the addition of the One10 just didn't need it. It imparted a real sense of depth and handled the low B strings on both the EUB and the bass guitars effortlessly. The high end was really smooth and kept great clarity all the way up to the top notes in the C string of my six string bass guitars. Effects were clear and full sounding handling chorus, envelope filter and octaver with real ease and definitely better than the  combo on its own. I got great comments about the tone and bass sound from the rest of the band and I am really looking forward to using this set up again next weekend.
Congratulations on making a great bass speaker and cabinet!
Thanks

One 10 - September 2015 (UK)

Got delivered about two hours ago and have been enjoying playing through it ever since! Will send a more detailed comment and review once it has been used at a gig.
(...)

Here is my review for the One 10 Cab. Shame I can't have any better comments from the gig I used it at but sometimes that is the way the sound works out at gigs. Much better than having to haul a 35kg 2x10 Ashdown Bass Amp around with me!
Barefaced One 10 Cab Review Received my Barefaced One 10 Cab four days ago.  Pleased to get number it at the introductory price. As soon as I got it and plugged it in, I could tell that it was a quality product. The Lows are great considering the small size and portability of cabinet. Good to have a speaker that makes each note on the bass sound the same volume and not have lots of low mids muddying things up. Sounds amazing when practising at home, although might sound better with a dedicated amp rather than just as an extension cabinet. Unfortunately, I can’t really comment on the sound from the first gig I used it at, as it was just in a local music shop, where I could not hear how the mix was very well and having the bass amp in the corner of the room made it sound too bassy and boomy anyway, so had to turn the bass frequencies down on my active bass guitar. (A cheap and cheerful practise amp would have done the job for such a gig.) However, I know how amazing this cabinet can and does sound and looking forward to hopefully purchasing a slightly louder, more powerful cabinet at some point in the future (finances permitting) for larger gigs. Or maybe just another One Ten cab with a different amp head. Most of the gigs I do are in pubs with not much space, so not ideal sound wise. However, having quality equipment never goes amiss. (Have to upgrade my bass guitar at some point now as well, to match the quality of the speaker cabinet!...) Thank you Barefaced for taking the time to make the cabinet to order and answer my email queries. Can’t recommend you highly enough.

Regards,
Robert

One 10 - September 2015 (UK)

The One 10 arrived in perfect condition. Paired with 05 it sounds beautifully warm with an even response across the frequencies (Lull Jazz active through GB Streamliner). The two cabs should cover any gig that I am likely to get in the near future, and with supreme portability. If I ever need more volume then I will be back for one of your larger cabs.
Congratulations Alex and team on designing and building such a great little speaker.

One 10 - September 2015 (UK)

Well that little One10 cab sounded really good in my jazz big band rehearsal! Seriously, much more oomph that my previous genz benz shuttle 1x10" cab could do. It easily kept up with a loud drummer and 20 odd trumpets, trombones and saxophones.
I had my amp master volume on about 75% and it sounded great.
How much eq would I be safe to use? Am I ok to give the cab a fairly hefty amount of bass and/or low mids or should I keep things fairly flat? (Amp is genz Benz shuttle 3.0) I don't want to break the speaker hence my question. Cheers!

Stephen

[Barefaced response: You can use as much EQ as you like - you'll hear the amp clip if it runs out of power or the speaker overdrive if you push it too hard, and both sounds will happen well before you get into the realms of permanent damage. At higher levels you'll find adding much bass boost will quickly eat into your available clean headroom - but if that happens, just back off the EQ a bit.]

One10 - September 2015 (UK)

I received my One10 yesterday, what a really big sound with plenty of bottom for such a small cab and it still has its big brothers midrange punch! I didn't expect it to have such a wide frequency range but after trying it out with some Fenders and a Rickenbacker, there is no drop-off at either end of the cabs output. I'll try it out on Wednesday at an open session in the pub where it will be up against a small PA but with what I've heard already there should be no problem.

Got mine an hour ago, thanks Alex. I put it under a Puma 500 and plugged the DB in. It's very clear with a lot of bottom, much of which I eq'd out. Early days, everything sounds good in my room only to sometimes disappoint on the gig. I'm playing next Tuesday at a funeral after-party - yes, really - and I'll take it with me. Very much looking forward to gigging it. If it can equal a 12" for power handling and performance it may be my go-to cab. It's amazingly light. Watch this space.

One10 - September 2015 (UK)

My speaker arrived Friday afternoon. It is beautifully constructed and a step-up quality from the already high standards of the latest generation Barefaced cabinets. I had a chance to play around with it at home on upright bass and to A-B it to one of Mike Arnopol fibreglass Crazy 8 speakers which has been my go-to box for small gigs. I've been having some troubles with the Crazy 8 rattling and vibrating so it isn't a totally comparison but I thought the new 1-10 sounded much more solid and substantial. For swing music I was able to get the big punchy sound I look for--thinks tones that are like "cubes with eased edges" rather than blobs--if that makes any sense to people.

Like other BF speakers I wasn't able to get it to fart out or distort noticeably, driving it with AI Clarus SL (one of he old ones) although it did start to distort a bit if I pushed it harder than what the speaker is designed to do. I found that using a HiPass filter in front of my amp (that doesn't have one built in) helped to firm up the sound and allow me to increase the volume to an even higher level.

I had a gig on Saturday night with a jazz quartet of bone, piano, drums and me, which I thought was going to be quiet background jazz during the cocktail hour of a wedding to be followed by a DJ for the dancing. Off I went with the new speaker thinking this would be a perfect test run. Unfortunately when I arrived I found that I was playing more of a neo-swing dance gig with volumes way up, beyond what the 1-10 is designed to do. If I'd had my Big Baby 2 and new Midget pairing, it would have been perfect. Fortunately there was good PA support and I was able to go into the PA for sound out front. The 1-10 did make an excellent stage monitor however. I'll be back with real gig experience once I get it, and also hopefully comments on using it with a bass guitar as well. In the meantime, I'm delighted and like the fact that it fits into a padded cajon bag along with my AI Clarus and an extension reel for easy over-the-shoulder load-in.

One10 - September 2015 (UK)

My One10 arrived this morning. Packed well and my name on the QC label. After a short session - Mike Lull PJ 5 into Genz Benz Streamliner into the One10 and at domestic volume - I can say with some relief that this little box fully lives up to the claims made. It is my first Barefaced cab, and bought with some haste when I saw the release e-mail. It is definitely old-school but in the way I would want. The P pickup sounds warm, clear and woody - perfect. The J is clear and melodic. The Streamliner is a warm amp to start with but that is just passed on through this little box without in any way losing its musical definition. As we are moving house, I will not be able to try my EUB until next week but I sense it is going to be perfect for that. Lower register weight with clarity, and all from a tiny, lightweight box. As for gigging volumes that will have to wait.

So one very satisfied customer here. The only regret I have is that I could have done with this 10 years ago. Even for a 65 year old like me it is now entirely feasible to turn up for a gig with an amp in one hand, this speaker in the other, and everything else in the gig bag. One more thing - the build quality is immaculate. "Designed and built in England" - you bet!

(...)

I’m so pleased with the first One10 I have ordered another. I just love what I heard this morning. I have decided to sell all my Genz Benz gear and use the One10s with something like a Tecamp head. As we have moved recently, my days of loud function bands are over and these will be perfect for jazz or small combo work. Plus my wife is so pleased to see the gear footprint shrinking. All this and made in the UK too. Great work Alex. Best wishes

Two10 - August 2015 (UK)

So far my cabinet is immaculate.. strangely enough on the weekend my inquisitive eye was looking for the join.. struggled to find it - was hardly visible! Pretty good I thought...

Still trying to get used to the new fuller sound.. Having to trim a fair amount of bottom end out.. expect it will take a while to find the settings I'm comfortable with.. :) Tho very clear and the double basses (acoustic and NS-WAV) sound amazing.. much easier to EQ them, and especially friendlier under the bow.. WAV was very harsh before, in fact had abandoned bowing it altogether and fitted gut strings (which are awesome for pizz but useless for arco). Now need to find some friendly metal bound strings so I can bow it again.

At last night's gig (jazz fusion-ish) wife Jenny said the bass sounded richer and preferred it.. so a result! (my archest critic..)
Peace

Just to let you know the cab arrived today. Looks fantastic. Definitely made the right choice with the fabric rather than the steel grille.
Had a quick play: awesome sound. The 12ohm will be more than loud enough for me. Happy boy...
Cheer for now.

Six10 - August 2015 (UK)

I had my friends give me a hand to get the Retro Six10 up the stairs to a club in East Kilbride, but before this I tried it out at home with a Genz Benz ShuttleMax 9.2, I found it significantly louder than my other Barefaced cabs and you know I’ve got them all lol. I wanted to try it out at a much louder volume, I usually take a Markbass SD1200 amp but due to the increased output I opted for the less powerful GB ShuttleMax at 900 watts, I wasn’t disappointed in this choice, I didn’t need to run the amp at max output, at this club I’ve tried the Super Midget, Super Compact, Big Baby 2, Super Twin and the Big Twin 2, phew. All great cabs, recently at this venue I’ve been jumping between the Super Twin (which I can carry upstairs with one hand) and the Big Twin 2 which I simply use to vibrate the building, especially on Pink Floyd’s – Comfortably numb.

At the moment my bass of choice is the Fender Starcaster although it’s a short scale there’s no chance of the bottom end losing any power and depth due to the excellent Barefaced cabs.. Trying out the Six10 against the ST and BT cabs it runs louder with less power, has the full bottom end of the Big Twin 2, has a higher frequency range than the Super Twin, has a midrange punch that in my opinion is unmatched in any other bass cab, no matter what was going on with the band this cab sang out right through the lot, even when my head was inches from the drummers crash cymbal. It’s the best cab I’ve tried (which includes the Ampeg 8x10 Fridge) for my style of playing, the majority is fingered with occasional pic work. Sorry I didn’t get round to a comparison between this and my 2 x Two10s. I would also say the Six10 and the Two10s are great cabs for double bass or the Kala UBasses 3 of which I use, great for folk, country and bluegrass etc.

The cab is really nice and the sound is very good with the upright bass. I'm happy with it. I didn't had any jazz gig since I have it, to hear it on stage, with drums on my left, but I'm sure it will be very nice.
Thank you for your nice work building these cabs.

Two 10 - April 2015 (France)

I received the cab and am enjoying it very much. It's everything promised and more, and I'm very happy with it.I'm wondering if it can be converted to 4ohms when needed. I'm currently using it with a vintage Ampeg B25B that loves to see the 12 ohms load, but I would love to test and use it with my old 69 Fender Bassman silverface, which requires a 4 ohms load.
Thank you very much

Cab arrived Friday! Gigged it on Sunday, sounded fantastic! I gigged with just the Compact last week & much preferred the TWO10 head to head. I haven't had a chance to try it with the Compact yet, I think it'll be a killer combination though.
Many thanks for the quick turnaround, and once again stunning cab :)

Two 10 - March 2015 (UK)

Many thanks for getting the cabinet to me in time for last nights gig.FedEX delivered in the morning so I was able to check everything through at home much to my wife's chagrin.A beautiful, well made cabinet which looks right, smells right and sounds great.
So off to the gig in a medium sized coastal pub where I arrived with the guitarist and promptly surprised the rest of the band by walking in with my bass (Limelight passive Precision) on my back, BT500 in my left hand and BF in my right hand. The drummer fell about laughing, inferring that puny kit like that was not going to cut it.Set up and decided to wind the band up further by putting the cab under a table in the corner of the stage area - more hilarity. We then plugged in and sound checked.I won't type the language that was used but the message after three bars of "Can't Turn You Loose" was for me to turn the volume down!So the amp settings went to: Gain @5%, EQ flat, Master @10% and the landlord moaned that the volume was OK but his bottles were rattling and moving on the top shelf. "Why?", he asked."Real bass", I replied.
A bit of head scratching on my part resulted in me using my little Behringer BDI21 as a pedal to give a bit of controllable tone shaping. (I found the active / passive pad on the BTs input at the end of the gig. I'll probably have to use that active pad in most situations in the future).
A great gig ensued. The punters were happy, we were happy, the landlord was happy enough to book us back for a gig in May and again for his mini beer festival during the August Bank Holiday.More to the point, I am extremely happy and glad that I made the decision to go with the RetroTwo10 as the replacement for my old Ampeg 410HLF.So, at this stage a massive thank you to you and your gang for making an old man happy.I have the sound, punch and more than enough volume whilst I'm saving my back.Great stuff!I'll let you know how things pan out at different gigs in the future.
Thank You All!

What a beautifully made cab - you seemed to have 'upped' your game somewhat. Really impressive. The little boy is gonna get a work out at the weekend - but seems to have no issues thus far. Jeez - it do sound different from the BT!! Thanks Alex and your team.

Six 10 - February 2015 (UK)

I had a couple of gigs over the weekend with it, and it's working out nicely. Super easy to get in and out of the gig, more so than my old 4x10. Sounds really great, much more clarity and just seems to sit in the mix a lot nicer. I'm still using my ABM head though which I'm not too happy with still, so the cab still sounds a bit hindered by the head I think. Massive improvement don't get me wrong, but I'm looking to get a full valve head very soon, just can't decide quite what to go for. When I get something I shall be in touch with more praise I'm sure!

Cheers for all your help so far, Phil

Six 10 - January 2015 (USA)

The Retro 6/10 is beautiful!  I tried it out already and it sounds great with my old-school but great-sounding tube amp (pictured).  Thank you for the t-shirt; my wife saw it and claimed it right off.  Two questions: does the "break-in" still consist of a few rehearsals at full volume and is there a sticker for the back plate that comes separately (not that I need one, but there may be a sound guy that is unfamiliar with the impedance)?
Thank you again for the great product

Bob

[Barefaced Response: We haven't noticed a significant break-in change with the 10CR250 drivers and there will be a sticker for the back plate once we've designed one and had some made.]

Two 10 - January 2015 (UK)

Received the cabs on Thursday, just wanted to say a massive thanks to you and the team. I had a gig last night and everyone I spoke to afterwards remarked on how good the bass sounded and that was only using one of the 2x10's, can't wait to unleash both! Its the first time I've been able to hear everything I was playing, a great experience.
Anyway thanks again, I would happily recommend Barefaced to anyone and everyone.

Kindest regards, James
